OUTDOOR ROASTING

1. Most modern kitchens have 20 amp service outlets as standard.  Better to run an extension cord to a 20 amp service then to try to roast directly from a 15 amp service outlet.   If using an extension cord use a commercial grade of 14 gauge one never more than 20 feet in length.   To determine amp service to kitchen or any room use a flashlight to inspect the home or business electric service panel, the amperage rating is molded into the switch, either 20 amps or 15 amps.

2.

Avoid roasting in the rain or inclement weather.  Rain or water in any form falling on the heated viewing window will result in damage to the glass viewing window.  Build a wind break for the roaster if roasting outside on a table, place a box or anything next to the roaster on the windward side - any wind or breeze will reduce the internal temperature of the roaster and extend the roast times.

3.  When roasting for the 1st time outside always preheat 10-15 minutes.  No preheat will be required for subsequent back-to-back roasts.
