  BEAN TEMPERATURE PROBE OPERATION

The TostaCaffe line of coffee roasters include a bean temperature port at midpoint on the left side of the roaster cabinet.  By inserting the included bean temperature probe through this port and into the loaded roasting drum it is possible to monitor the beans throughout the roasting process.  Printable Coffee Roaster Log Forms.

For more accurate tracking of the bean temperature the beans should cover the tip of bean temperature probe so it is necessary to roast near maximum capacity on the TostaCaffe line of coffee roasters.  Inspection of the probe during drum rotation can be done through the front roaster viewing window.  If the bean temperature probe is covered throughout the roasting process, the temperature indicating roast completion should be approximately 420 to 440 degrees Fahrenheit depending on desired roast profile.

For smaller batches the bean temperature probe won't be as accurate due to inadequate coverage but will measure the drum environment temperature and assist along with bean shade in determining the roast completion.

Log each roast indicating green bean country of origin, batch size, roaster ambient (room) temperature, and temperature in 5 minute increments for large batches, and 2 minute increments for small batches.
